Egyptian Pop Star Arrested Over Music Video
An Egyptian pop star has been detained over a suggestive music video, This will be the second singer in a month to be jailed for “debauchery”.
The singer, Leila Amer, has been in custody for four days accused of “incitement to immorality” right after her song ‘Boss Omak (Look at Your Mother)’ gained popularity on social media.
The video for the song includes a scene with a man watching a belly dancer and the artiste allegedly makingcobscene gestures with her hands.

Ahmed Mahran, the lawyer who filed a complaint, told Youm7 a local newspaper that the video was a “moral disaster” and a “great risk” to Egypt as a country.
“These works represent an attack on society and the destruction of the state, it being an Islamic country,” he further explained.
