Principal Escapes Execution In Anambra State, For Allegedly Being Gay
Modestus Eze, the Principal of Seat of Wisdom Secondary School, Okija, Ihiala Local Government Area, Anambra, Nigeria was lynched by some youths in the area.
The youths decided to attack the principal when they heard that he allegedly had sex with a 17-year-old male pupil of the school.
The Principal was saved by the Okija Police Division who noticed the chaos going on in the school by the youths.
An eyewitness at the scene said :
“It was the police that saved the man. He would have been dead by now. We learnt that during the confusion in the school, the man escaped. Nobody knows his whereabouts.”
The Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, Haruna Umar, said:
“There was a reported case of unnatural offence against one Modestus Eze, the Principal of Seat of Wisdom Secondary School, Okija.
The suspect allegedly had an unlawful carnal knowledge of a male pupil of 17 years old, against the order of nature.
The scene was visited by police detectives attached to the Okija division and the victim was taken to the hospital for medical examination.
Some charms and fetish deities covered with red substance suspected to be blood, were also discovered in some isolated rooms on the school premises.
It took the intervention of the Divisional Police Officer and some eminent persons in the area to restore normalcy and pacify the rampaging youths from taking the law into their own hands.
The suspect is still on the run and efforts are being intensified to apprehend him in order to bring him to justice.”
